What skate shoe size should I buy?
I want to buy online Nike Bauer Vapor XXV Senior Ice Hockey skates and I am not sure what size I need. In the Czech Rep, I usually buy shoe size 44 1/2 or 45. I tried 11.5D in a local shop and they seemed to fit, but I am not sure whether the size is the shoe or skate size.
The best method is to find a pair of the skates you are going to buy online and try them on in person. Then you can order them online when you know for sure.
Generally as a rule of thumb you go down 1 – 1/12 sizes from you street shoe. I say generally. I wear a size 11 to 12 street shoe, but I wear a size 9 1/2 in a Bauer skate. There are too many variables to trust that simply subtracting a number from your street shoe size will work every time.
By doing a bit of legwork, you may save yourself a hassle and some money in the long run.
