Hockey Goals Canada

CIS hockey future for a 15 year old! ?
Hi! I’m 15 years old, 5′6″, 139 lbs. I have only been skating for about four years now and only played one season of hockey. It was at Unionville High School in Ontario, Canada. I started all seven games and had 2 goals, 3 assists and 8 PIM. I am not playing house leauge hockey this year because I didn’t register early enough. So, I am taking the year off to train and grow a little. I have a fairly average speed, it take me 47 sec. to skate around a rink at York U. I was wondering if I start house leauge at age 16, do I still have a chance to play Canadian Universty hockey? Thanks!
Wait, they have try-outs? Like during the school year? I thought the scouts saw you and gave you a scholarship and you already had a place on the team! Thanks for the info, bud!
If you want to play in the CIS, your best chance is to get in a good team as soon as you can. I play for the University of Windsor and our men’s hockey team consists of ex-OHL players and guys that used to play Junior A and Junior B. Keep training hard and don’t take the year off hockey if you can. Off ice training will only do so much, but you need the on ice training and game pace to get that much better. Yes, many university teams, well at least our team does, has open try-outs at the beginning of the season. A walk-on position is hard to obtain unless you’re really good. It’s best to be recruited before.
Good luck
