What size hockey skate should I wear?

I typically wear a size 8.5 – 9 women’s shoe, which is a 6.5 – 7 in mens, and I take a size 8 in rental figure skates. What size of hockey skate should I plan on buying? The size conversion charts I find online don’t seem too accurate because when I search auction sites for the size that they say I *should* wear, it’s actually nothing close to the size of my feet.

Any other ladies who wear a size 8.5 – 9 shoe who can tell me what size and brand their hockey skates are? Thanks!

(There are no stores in my area that sell hockey skates, so I can’t get to a store to try them on first. I will probably buy used, so if I have to buy 2 different sizes to try them out, that’s fine because I can always resell the pair that doesn’t fit.)

I am going to go by what you said about 6.5 – 7 in mens sizes.

If you are buying any skate other than a mission skate, then you will want to go 1.5 sizes down from your shoe size (its a different system) meaning 5 – 5.5 for you.

Mission skates fit the same as US sizes, so go with either a 6.5 or a 7.
