The Twin Brother of Hockey

Ice hockey is originated in Canada. Ice hockey is firstly popular in the Netherlands. In Mid 19th century, it sprung up rapidly in the United Kingdom, Norway, Sweden and other Nordic countries. In the late 19th century, Russia developed its own rules and play, called “Russian ice hockey.” Sweden held its first competition in 1901. In 1955 in Sweden, Finland, Norway and the Soviet Union and other countries, the congress was held and the International Ice Hockey Federation was established, the sport was called ice hockey, and uniform rules of the game are worked out. The World Ice Hockey Championships was inaugurated in 1957. It was held biennially since 1961.
The competition rink is 110 meters length and 65 meters wide, there is a goal frame of 210 cm high and 360 cm wide in the middle of the field at both ends, goal post and beams were made of 12 cm × 12 cm square wood. Wooden racket is 120 cm length, 6 cm width, the bottom of the arc and 450 grams weight. The ball is made with multi-layer cord woven; it is round, 6 cm in diameter and weighs 60 grams.
In the game, each team has 11 players, including one goalkeeper. The athletes wearing skate shoes, protective sportswear and authentic hockey jerseys, handing the racket, shoot the ball into the opponent’s goal. One point for each shot, the team who get the more scores at the end is the winner team. The overall game is 90 minutes, and it is divided into two half, with a break of 10 minutes, there can be substitutions at any time in the game.
