Hockey Skates Radius
Question on hockey skate pitch, radius…?

On my new pair of skates, the heel feels like it’s WAY too high. I’ve tried wearing them but I’m skating like crap. At one point my feet slipped out behind me and I fell flat on my face!! I skate with a low stance, very bent knees and flexed ankles. My new skates I feel like I’m on my toes and I HATE it! I compared my new and old skates and my old skate the heel isn’t as high as it is on the new skates (compared to the toe)- do my old skates have a neutral pitch? I’m still not exactly sure what pitch is and the different types. I went to a hockey store to get the new skates changed, and the guy started talking about radius and I have absolutely no idea what that is. Can anyone help? I just want to lower the heel on my new skates- if that’s possible?? Thanks!

The pitch is how tall the blade is. Radius is how rounded it is, which makes the blade lower at the heel and the toe. A shorter radius gives you a more agile, shifty feel; whereas a longer radius is used for speed.
