Hockey Skates Versus Figure Skates
How do you define a “sport”, versus an “activity”? For instance, is hockey a sport, but not figure skating?
A friend and I were having this discussion. What differentiates the two? Say for instance, is canoeing a sport? How about rappelling? Is hiking an activity, or a sport?
You can’t go by ‘things people will watch on TV’ because then Scrabble and Texas Hold’em would be sports… so here is what i use… if i can do the thing even minimally well it is an activity otherwise it is a sport… so hang glider is a sport and hiking is an activity….
