Ice Hockey Skates History
Why can’t a shorty play Ice Hockey?
I’m 5′7″ tall and weigh 130lbs.
I’m 17 year old Asian boy.
I’ve played paintball games with my friends and realized that I enjoy playing Ice Hockey.
My HS has an all “white” hockey team. I’m a bit rusty on Skating and wonder If I tried my best I would be able to be on the team.
No person in history that has ever been on a hockey team because it is mostly reserved for “white” people.
If I don’t make it, then I would probably join a rec league or something.
You can, but you would WANT to put on more weight, and the most overlooked element of ice hockey, ironically, is ice skating. Before you even pick up a stick, you should be a very good skater, work on endurance and backwards skating, moreso on whatever position you are trying to be. Forward – skating faster, stick handling, dekes, dangles.. etc
Defense – more body, skating backwards, strong stance etc.. both want head up. Keep your head up.
Your ethnicity has nothing to do with it, and small players are some of the best in the NHL, and if you really wanna play then you should definately try out, good luck
