Indoor Mini Hockey Nets
Does anyone know of any INDOOOR gross motor games to play with preschoolers which incorporates WINTER theme?
I teach a preschool class and our theme is winter coming up. When we don’t go outside we do indoor gross motor games. Here is a list of what we have and then try to incorporate winter theme… or if you have a different gross motor game it would be helpful.
*pilons, balls, nets, bowling,ring toss,bean bags,hop scotch,musical footprints,hockey sticks,tunnel, mini trampoline.
We pretended to “ice skate” on paper plates (paper kind, not styrofoam–full size) to slow/wintery-kind of music (Enya, etc.). It’s always a hit with the preschoolers (just set up some rules ahead of time like, no pulling or pushing on anyone’s arms, etc. basic safety and common sense). You can do this down the carpeted hallway at school if you have one, or just do it in the classroom. It is a BALL!
Not sure what climate you live in, but if you have snow or ice around, you can take the kids outside with paintbrushes and your paint jars and have them “paint the snow” or icicles. Again, an amazing sensory/gross motor and fine motor/science activity.
Have the kids also have a pretend snowball fight with scrunched up pieces of white scrap paper from the recycle bin (or marshmallows work too), or have them toss them in a basket. Practice taking turns is a self-help skill, too.
